An exhibition by Rekha Menon
Artist statement
Rekha's practice is rooted in lived experience and an ongoing curiosity about what it means to be human. Working across mixed media, painting, sculpture and installation, she explores memory, grief, healing, resilience and our capacity to navigate change and loss. More recently, her practice has expanded towards play, joy and the rediscovery of the inner child. Hence through colour, symbolism, cultural references and character-based narratives, she explores play as a way of reconnecting with curiosity, hope and possibility. At its heart, her work reflects our capacity to move through darkness while
continuing to seek light, connection and wonder.

Biography
Biography Rekha Menon (b. 1976) is a Malaysian visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses mixed media, painting, sculpture and installation. After more than a decade working in branding and media relations, she transitioned to a full-time visual arts practice, bringing with her an instinctive interest in storytelling, communication and the ways in which personal experiences connect with wider human narratives. This sensitivity to lived experience continues to shape her artistic practice, which explores themes of memory, grief, healing, resilience and the human condition.
As her practice has evolved, these concerns have opened into a more playful and restorative exploration of play, joy and the rediscovery of the inner child. Through colour, symbolism and character-based narratives, Menon considers how play can offer a way of navigating the complexities of adulthood while reconnecting with wonder, hope and emotional openness.
