Tension: Artist Sharing Session
Join textile artists Afiza Abubakar, Lada Dedic and Xeem Noor as they share on their love affair with textiles, including weaving styles & practices, as well as personal unique inputs into their creations.

Afiza Abu Bakar, is a textile creator based in Japan. Her practice stems from the Japanese method of Saori style weaving that emerged in in the 1970’s, emphasizing individual creativity. This includes what is generally seen as flaws and mistakes in the textile as a valuable character of the person weaving.
Lada Dedic, a full-time nomadic whose art practice embraces a questioning and investigative approach to exploring themes of cartography, neuroscience and microbiology; creating works which are interplays of science and art.
Xeem Noor, a visual artist interested in art-making as self-documentation. She approaches art as a form of meditation and comfort; incorporating & manipulating embroidery, textiles and vibrant colors into abstract forms and silhouettes.
