A Legacy Served at the Table: Site-Specific Play "PEWARIS" Set to Premiere at temu house

Superbear Productions , in partnership with Yayasan Hasanah and Arts FAS (Arts for All Seasons) , is proud to announce the premiere of PEWARIS, an intimate, site-specific theatrical journey exploring the intersection of memory, heritage, and the sensory power of food.

Running from 23 April to 3 May 2026 at Temu House in Petaling Jaya, PEWARIS invites audiences into the heart of a home to witness a family navigating a delicate transition. When a woman begins to lose her memory and with it, the ability to cook the signature dishes that once defined her, her family is forced to confront a question: What do we truly inherit from the people we love?

Directed by Gavin Yap and written by Honey Ahmad, the play uses food as a primary language for love, care, and belonging. Through quiet, fly-on-the-wall moments, the experience serves as a gentle reminder of the fragility of tradition and the urgency of preserving the rituals that shape our identity before they vanish.

"Food is the ultimate time machine, a single bite can transport you to a different time in your life, and it’s also the ultimate connector. It brings people together in a way few other things can, especially in Malaysia," says Director , Gavin Yap. "With PEWARIS, we wanted to move away from the traditional stage to create something that feels lived-in and has a fly on the wall quality to it. By staging this at Temu House, we are allowing the audience to sit at the table of this family’s life, exploring how time acts as an invisible but essential ingredient in everything we pass down."
