Delicious Diversity: A Proud Celebration With Music, Legal Rights And A Sprinkle Of Kitchen Magic Every Nowhere Kitchen experience is different. From the theme to the speakers and right down to the ingredients used. Yes, that's right.. since you're bringing the ingredients.. our chef's get to work their magic with what you provide them.

What a unique culinary encounter!

Our conversation for this upcoming dinner will be celebrating diversity, equality and inclusion. We hope to share and exchange unique experiences/works/arts/activism that we’ve encountered, and what 2023 month's theme of Peace, Love, Revolution means to you.

Our speakers this month:

Founding director of Legal Dignity

feminist activist

Andi (she/her) is a feminist activist who has been advocating for gender equality and social justice for almost 10 years. She has special interest in the intersection of gender, religion and fundamental liberty issues. She also co-founded and occasionally writes on social justice topics in Bahasa Melayu for Jurnal Sang Pemula. She enjoys coffee and nature, ideally together.

Spreadsheet enthusiast

Yaya (they/them) is a spreadsheet enthusiast, having worked in finance, auditing, and accounting since obtaining their ACCA degree from BPP University.

A staunch advocate for Malaysia’s queer community, Yaya started their work in the corporate world, witnessing the disparity between those in power and the marginalized.

Besides their commitment to equity, a good cup of coffee and capturing the beauty of nature with their camera also motivates them.

Faris is a writer and musician. He is a founding member of Shh…Diam! The band has toured extensively in more than 10 countries, sharing their message of love and terrible jokes.

As a writer, Faris has previously worked as a business journalist for The Malaysian Reserve and Focus Malaysia. He currently freelances; writing annual/sustainability reports and anything that needs words to pay the bills.

Cheryl Lee Yesudas

Human rights advocate

Cheryl is an advocate for human rights and freedom of expression while playing the bass for Shh...Diam! She works at ARTICLE 19 as the Asia Communications and has produced marketing videos for the likes of Google, MTV and TikTok.

Cheryl has organized many events and concerts in Malaysia, collaborating locally and internationally. She thinks it’s important that everyone has the space to party safely and would like to create that space in her free time.
