About Yati Kaprawi
Norhayati Kaprawi (Yati) is a women’s rights activist who uses various media in her advocacy work to raise awareness, particularly on Muslim women's rights in Malaysia.
She first explored batik art on fabric and later painting on canvas. For the past few years, Yati decided to explore more into printmaking to add more female perspectives and experiences in the Malaysian printmaking scene.
As a self-taught artist, Yati keeps on learning various printmaking techniques and approaches by attending workshops in Malaysia and in Germany. She in turn loves to share her knowledge and skill by conducting workshops, particularly for women. This is part of her effort to encourage more women to also share their thoughts, experiences and display their skills in printmaking.
