Dream B by Low Chee Peng
Dreams are often used as metaphors for life’s impermanence and illusion. They blur the boundary between reality and imagination, inviting us to reflect on the inner world, one that is no less complex or truthful than the external reality we inhabit. In contemplating dreams, we are led to question the nature of the self and the essence of existence.
Viewed from above, clouds gather and disperse without attachment, never lingering for anything permanently. They remind us that many of our life’s obsessions, when seen from a broader and more detached perspective, are merely passing landscapes along the journey. To live like a cloud is to embody a wisdom of non-attachment—responding to the world without being bound by it.
This body of work traces its origin to Dream, Low Chee Peng’s first series of Dream B sculpture created in Langkawi in 2019, and continues to unfold as a quiet reflection on life itself. We stand firmly on the ground of reality, yet our gaze is constantly drawn upward to the clouds of dreams and aspirations. We long to grasp something, to make dreams tangible, yet what is most beautiful often lies in the process of transformation itself.
Like clouds in motion, Dream B dwells in the space between holding on and letting go, between the real and the illusory. In this shifting state, the pursuit and release of desire reveal a form of quiet permanence, an eternal rhythm found within impermanence itself, self-awareness, and care. No art experience is needed; just come as you are.
