We were born not knowing. That's what all that crying was about.

And then with every breath, we learn something.

Babies drop spoons and plates from the table and watch them fall because they're learning about gravity. With every learning, we know what's possible. But that knowing only raises more questions about the unknown.

In the beginning, we learn by listening to others. Then we learn by watching others. And eventually -- because many have lived, learned, and written before we even took our first breath -- we learn by reading others.

Books, both fiction and non-fiction, offer us glimpses into the realm of possibilities. They demystify the past and contextualise the present, so we may have a bit of clarity about the future. And that -- often -- is the permission we need to take steps in directions we didn't previously intend to.

Or that we did intend to, but didn't know we could.

This edition of the book swap is about the books that propelled us forward, sometimes with a gentle nudge, and at other times, with a resounding push.

Because the arrow of time travels in one direction -- from the realm of knowing to that of not knowing -- and the only way to live fully is by jumping into the unknown.

Life, itself, is the ultimate leap of faith.

WHAT IS KELAB BUKU SINGLES?

It's a social gathering where the filter is that one has to be single, and the topic of conversation is centred around books.

At its foundation, this was designed for people who find it difficult making

connections in the cold, sometimes unforgiving, structure of a big city.

Our members usually fall around the age range of 25 - 35, and are living or

working somewhere in the Klang Valley. They're not only in literature, but often

also in art, cinema, and music.

And even though dating is in its DNA, the goal of the event isn’t necessarily to

get people to go on a romantic date, but rather for people to see each other

beyond photos and online bios and hopefully connect as people.
