My Story
A multiple award-winning architect and sought-after speaker who advocates for better gender representation in her field.

An alumna of Princeton, Lillian Tay pursued her architecture career in Italy, Germany and New York, working at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, before returning to Kuala Lumpur to practice. As the vice president of Veritas Design Group, Tay is credited with designing several landmark and award-winning buildings in Malaysia, including the W Hotel, Oxley Towers (the tallest building in Malaysia designed by a Malaysian architect), Star Residences, and the innovative DiGi Headquarters in Subang Hi-Tech Park. She has played a key role in designing some of Malaysia’s earliest sustainable and green-rated buildings, such as One Sentral Tower, Menara Binjai, and Putrajaya Western Transport Terminal. In 2023, Tay was honoured with the PAM (Malaysian Institute of Architects) Gold Medal, recognising her lifetime design achievements and excellence in a body of work. She became the first woman in the organisation’s history to receive this award.
